There is nothing new in Turkey's statements that the Armenian-Turkish relations cannot be normalized until the Karabakh conflict is settled, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a press conference in Yerevan on February 2.
"These statements contain nothing new. It is strange that the preconditions are laid down not by Armenia, but by Turkey - the successor of the Ottoman Empire that committed the Armenian Genocide. It would be strange to look for logic in the Turkish diplomacy and rhetoric," said Nalbandian. He added that if Ankara keeps using the same rhetoric, it is unlikely to succeed in normalization with Armenia or any other country.
To note, Ankara has recently stated that the Armenian-Turkish relations cannot be normalized until the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved.
