Russia encourages Yerevan's commitment to exclusively peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced at the press conference held with the Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on November 9.
"We are sure that the sides should be further assisted in developing consensual and mutually acceptable foundation for the conflict settlement. This is one of our foreign policy priorities and the issue is under Russia's president Vladimir Putin's control. Russia, as a member of OSCE Minsk Group, which was approved by UN Security Council as the collective mediator, will keep playing an active role in assisting the achievement of positive result", Lavrov emphasized.
At the same time he added that in the current complex situation solidarity and mutual support are extremely important for the both countries.
"I am sure that our countries can rely on each other in issues of strengthening global and regional security and the main goal of today's meetings in my opinion is the statement of consensus in key issues of bilateral and international agenda", Lavrov noted.
Nalbandian in turn noted that Armenia highly appreciates Russia's and OSCE Minsk Group other co-chairs efforts towards exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict. "I think that we will continue to work to this end", the Armenian Foreign Minister summarized.
