Azerbaijan is a nazi state and the trial against the Armenian captive is a bright example of that, David Babayan, Artsakh President's aide told ArmInfo. He called the trial against Baghdasaryan farce, as it was held behind the closed doors, without any monitoring from outside, without lawyers, and human rights defenders.
"Baku's actions, its maniacal aspiration for violence against helpless captives resemble the atrocities of the Islamic State militants. I think, the international organizations and civilized states should learn lessons from all this instead of holding Olympiad in Baku which resembles the Munich Olympiad of 1938," Babayan said.
Asked if Stepanakert expected the U.S. Department of State, which called on Karabakh to release the Azerbaijani saboteurs as "an act of humanism," to respond to the case, Babayan said:
"The trial against the Azerbaijani saboteurs was open. The saboteurs were not subjected to any pressure: either psychological or physical. If the Department of State calls for 'humanism,' it should better demand it for the Armenian captive," Babayan said.
The Karabakh president's aide says he does not think the trial against Baghdasaryan was a response to the sentence against the Azerbaijani saboteurs, as "the cases of violence against captives in Azerbaijan were registered yet long before the detention of the saboteurs."
Azerbaijani Court sentenced Armenian POW Arsen Baghdasaryan to 15 years in tight institution. The former contract serviceman of the NKR Defense Army Arsen Baghdasaryan has been in Azeri captivity since Dec 26, 2014. The NKR Defense Ministry says that his behavior was far from being disciplined. When trying to escape court, Baghdasaryan crossed the line of contact into Azerbaijan. He was charged under Articles 29,120.2.7, 29,120.2.12 and 29,282.2 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
