Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on mass disorders implemented on July 20 is ongoing in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee.
The press-service of the Armenian Investigative Committee has told ArmInfo, that as of today as a result of the obtained evidence charges were pressed against 6 citizens for participation in mass disorders based on Article 225 point 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The court made a decision on choosing arrest as a measure of restriction for them. Another 6 citizens were detained on suspicion of being attached to the disorders. It is informed that according to the data of the preliminary investigation 62 people applied to the medical centers after events of July 20, 37 policemen among them. Preliminary investigation is ongoing, those who have sustained bodily injuries in the result of disorders are interrogated, forensic medical examinations have been commissioned, circumstances of sustaining bodily injuries are clarified, the amount of material damage caused during the disorders is found out.
According to the information received today, leader of the "Founding Parliament" oppositionist initiative Garegin Chughasyan has been put on the wanted list.
To note, clashes occurred between police and the supporters of Sasna Tsrer group at Khorenatsi Street in the night of July 21. The demonstrators started to throw stones on the law enforces, when the latter did not answer anything to their request to send food to the armed group. The policemen used special measures to drive off the crowd. The protesters built barricades from trashcans on the territory. According to the Healthcare Ministry 51 injured people including 29 policemen applied to medical centers after clashes at Khorenatsi Street. 136 people were detained.
