The genocide against Yezidis in the Middle East is still going on. The Yezidis are not only being annihilated but also being deported from their places of residence, Sashik Sultanyan, Head of the National Committee of Yezidis NGO, said at a press conference in Yerevan.
He stressed that Turkey has recently tried to expel the Yezidi refugees. "This is happening with the connivance of the international community," said Sultanyan. "What human rights are the "democratic countries" speaking about when 4,000 Yezidi women and children are in the Islamic State's captivity and undergo violence every day?" he said.
Sultanyan emphasized that the Yezidi community of Armenia has repeatedly urged the international community to pay attention to the Yezidi massacres in the Middle East, but to no avail. He added that Yezidis of Armenia are raising funds to help the Yezidis in the Middle East.
As regards the constitutional reforms in Armenia, the Yezidi community representatives see no need for the reforms. Neither do most of Armenia's citizens. "Yes, the draft reforms provide parliamentary seats to the ethnic minority representatives, but we may just as well have a representative in the National Assembly as citizens of Armenia without any reforms. So, there is no need to hold constitutional reforms, because they also include many other provisions, which are far from being expedient," said Sultanyan.
