The PACE Committees' adoption of the anti- Armenian resolutions are the consequence of the current geopolitical processes, David Shahnazaryan, former national security minister of Armenia, said at today's discussions on the Karabakh issue.

"The Armenian side should finally switch from defensive to offensive measures, because it has quite serious arguments from the viewpoint of international law. It is time to come out with our own initiatives instead of defending ourselves against the adversary's initiatives," Shahnazaryan stressed.
The politician thinks that Baku's impudent behavior in the Karabakh conflict settlement process is explained by the Russian-Azerbaijani weapon deals, which, he said, have resulted in violation of the military and technical balance between the conflicting parties. "The improvement of Russian-Azerbaijani relations and the invitation to join the EEU are the key reasons of Baku's impudence and escalation of the tension in the region, however, this is not enough for resumption of military operations in the NKR", Shahnazaryan said, recalling that during the Artsakh war Azerbaijan's weapons were 5 times as much as the Armenian side's weapons, but the latter gained the victory.
To note, on November 23, the PACE Committee adopted another anti-Armenian draft resolution - this time on Sarsang reservoir - "Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deprived of water". Earlier on November 4, the PACE Political Affairs Committee approved the "Escalation of Violence in Nagorno- Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan" report prepared by rapporteur Robert Walter (United Kingdom). The Armenian Parliament intends to issue a statement on this matter. Speaker of Armenian Parliament Galust Sahakyan said that other measures are also being worked out to resist "the Turkish-Azerbaijani initiative at PACE".
