Energy rate will be increased by 7 drams per kWh for final consumers on Aug 1 2015, according to the draft decision of the public services watchdog. The decision is available on the website of the Public Services Regulatory Committee (PSRC).
According to the source, the daytime rate will be increased from 41.85 AMD per kWh to 48.78 drams per kWh. The nighttime rate will grow from 31.85drams to 38.78 drams per kWh. The Committee will meet on June 17 to adopt the final decision on the issue. Actually, the Committee has rejected the application by the Electric Networks of Armenia that requested a 17-dram increase.
Earlier, Armenia's energy and natural resources minister Yervand Zakharyan said the energy rate revision is justified, as the company has suffered 37.6 billion drams losses due to the idling of the Armenian NPP and low water.
It will become the third rise in the electricity tariffs for the past 2 years. In July 2013 electric power rose in price from 30 to 41.8 AMD, with the nighttime tariff growing from 20 AMD to 31.8 AMD. The second rise in the tariffs (by 4 AMD) was registered in summer 2014.
