Information not corresponding to the facts has been spread in mass media these days related to the bridge near the Ayrum railway station of the South Caucasus Railway CJSC. The company allegedly owns the bridge, which is in poor condition.
The company informs that this information does not correspond to the facts, the bridge is not on the books of the company and consequently SCR does not bear any responsibility for its technical condition.
All the railway bridges passed to the South Caucasus Railway according to the concession agreement from February 13, 2008 have been restored, relevant work has been conducted on their strengthening and the bridges are regularly monitored to ensure their safety.
The company also informs relating to the tragic incident occurred on the territory of Yerevan motive-power depot spread by mass media that it was not the worker of SCR but an employee of a contracting organization who suffered during conducting construction work on an open platform. The company urges journalists to verify the information provided by them and avoid precarious allegations and unfounded reasons.
To note, South Caucasus Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railway OJSC and the concessional manager of Armenian Railway under the Concession Agreement signed on 13 Feb 2008. The Agreement was signed for 30 years but it may be prolonged for 10 more years.
