Turkish politician Naadi Solmez has told the media that the Turkish society desires the opening of the borders without any preconditions.
According to the politician, the Turkish authorities refuse to recognize the Armenian Genocide because after that they might face Armenia's territorial demands. "Territories are a low-priority item, sense of conscience is of priority", he said.
He believes the recognition is necessary for quiet conscience and normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. "The Turkish society desires the opening of the borders without any preconditions", said the politician. He has added that Turkish intellectuals and civil society members struggle for the establishment of democracy in the country and the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
