European Council's President Donald Tusk's arrival in Armenia speaks for the Armenia-EU solidarity in interests and understanding in respect of enhancing the ties and cooperation format, Serzh Sargsyan, the president of Armenia, told during the press conference on the outcomes of the meeting held with Donald Tusk.
According to him, it was said during the meeting that Armenia-EU relations are fast-developing. This is a result of a political will shown in that direction, as well as of a common value system. The president does believe that both the enhancement of the relations with the EU, as well as the further democratization process in Armenia are long-term.
At the same time the president expressed satisfaction with "Eastern Partnership" Riga Summit results, according to which the need for taking a specific approach towards member-countries was registered. "I have always spoken about the need for a specific approach, which would be based on radical differences. Azerbaijan can be considered as an ally in terms of energy products. We are interested in democracy development and enhancing the cooperation in that sector", the president said.
He has also expressed hope on launching negotiations between Armenia and EU on elaborating a new legal document on cooperation.
Sargsyan has also told that the meeting covered constitutional reform issues in Armenia, as well as topical regional issues. As for the recent Iran developments, the president again emphasized Armenia's interest in the fast development of the relations with Iran.
