The case with ASALA veteran Alek Yenigomshyan is nothing but display of state terrorism in Armenia, member of the Preparliament initiative, filmmaker Tigran Khzmalyan told ArmInfo.
On October 20 Preparliament member Alek Yenigomshyan was returning home in a car from the "100 years without regime" procession. A group of policemen, who introduced themselves as employees of the criminal investigation department, approached the car, took Yenigomshyan out of the car and left the visually challenged man on the streetway and went away. The passers-by helped Yenigomshyan to leave the streetway.
"It was very hard for Yenigomshyan to understand whether the people "from the criminal investigation department" were really employees of the criminal investigation or just criminals. It is natural that they were chasing Yenigomshyan's car. Perfectly realizing whom they were dealing with, they took the hero of the national liberation war out of the car and left him on the streetway, where Yenigomshyan kept standing until the people, who were more compassionate than the people "from the criminal investigation department", helped him to leave that place. Leaving a man helpless is criminally penalized. But when this is done by those who are meant to defend the law and order, the comments are needless. Official investigation seems to have been launched by the order of the Police Chief", he said.
According to the oppositionist, the fact that the police mistreated Yenigomshyan, who is well known for his acts of terrorism against the Turkish state officials, is a perfect example of state terrorism. It is moral terrorism at the level of cynical tricks. He is convinced that the public is being prepared for new bloodbaths. He thinks that people are being intimidated and prepared for the worse. "There are numerous examples of such state terrorism", he said and pointed out the recent attack on the car, where Zhirayr Sefilyan's wife was sitting. "The other day the Court of the Republic of Armenia gave minor Shahen Harutyunyan a 4-year suspended sentence for defending his father, who was being beaten by the police dressed as civilians", he added.
