ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on October 26 during the meeting of the government of the republic once again touched upon the issues of prevention of environmental pollution. As the prime minister pointed out, in the last period an extremely unacceptable ecological situation was registered in the communities of the Ararat region of Armenia.
The Prime Minister reminded that earlier they had been instructed to toughen the measures of responsibility for the illegal use of natural resources, which are now under development. At the same time, as Karen Karapetyan noted, as a result of the conducted studies, cases of super-pollution of the environment were also revealed. "In particular, in the recent period, an extremely unacceptable ecological situation has been registered in the communities of Aintap, Darakert, Norabats, Getapnya, Dashtavan, Zorak and Masis in the Ararat region, and there have also been cases of mixing irrigation and waste water, which causes serious damage to both the environment and rural economy, "Karen Karapetyan said.
In this regard, the Prime Minister instructed the heads of the Ministry of Nature Protection, Territorial Administration and Development, Agriculture, Health and the State Committee for Water Management to take steps towards eliminating cases of mixing wastewater with irrigation water, getting waste into the irrigation system pipelines, applying more stringent liability measures established by law . In addition, he was also instructed to elaborate and submit to the Government Office, within 2 months, legislative proposals to prevent such cases and provide compensation for damage caused by pollution.
