ArmInfo.A laser device is developed in Armenia to detect and suppress military hardware, Aram Sayadyan, the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the country, Lieutenant-Colonel informed.
"The equipment "catches" the reflection of the optical means of sniper weapons, and then powerful laser radiation takes this optic out of the action. But the most important thing is that it allows to find sniper event before the shot," Sayadyan told, RIA News informs.
He added that the equipment is meant to find optical sights, binoculars, optical and electro optical prospecting, thermal cameras, video cameras, including night vision. It is not big in measures and is being hidden easily.
The suppression of optical electronic (including sighting) systems has been put into service for quite some time. Particularly, in Russia, a series of Antisniper search complexes , sold both in stationary version, and in the form of sights, installed on small arms (machine guns and sniper rifles) are produced. Means of staging interference in the optical range are widely being used and as well as laser stations to counter snipers.
