ArmInfo. To me personally, it is pretty difficult to imagine Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan leading the proportional list of Armenian Republican Party at upcoming parliament elections, targeted to obtain lawmaker's mandate, Stephan Safaryan, the Director of Armenian Institute of International Relations and Security stated his opinion. "At that, his appearance in the first chart of Republican List will be the evidence of his readiness to remain the main politicalfigure of the country. It is obvious he will do everything to make the Republican Party stay the leading political power of Armenia,' he mentioned.
Within all this, the involvement of Karen Karapetyan, the second political figure of the country, in the same list, really feels like problematic. The Constitution and the Electoral Code states clear terms of membership, but the expert does not rule out authorities will overcome this problem- of course, at the cost of Prime Minister's legitimacy.
Commenting intentions of politicians left the authorities part trying to appear as opposition members at upcoming elections, Safaryan did not rule out them being insiders in opposition to mistreat emotions and, which is most important, votes of opposing electorate. Following Safaryan, such politicians simply cannot be considered in the classic meaning of the word as opposing, taking into consideration long years of cooperation with authorities.
