ArmInfo. The parties of " Enlightened Armenia", "Prosperous Armenia" and "Armenian Renaissance" applied to the Prime Minister offering to disband Elders' Council of Vanadzor and to hold new elections there.
The reason for such an application was the fact it is already three months that Vanadzor Council of Elders was unable to arrange and to hold meetings due to the boycott of these three powers. The application of three parties particularly reads: " We ask You to take into consideration and to implement the appropriate provisions of the Law on Local Self Government stating that in the case of impossibility to hold sessions of Elder's Council the Council should be disbanded and new elections to be arranged."
To mention, after the Vanadzor Elder's Council elections a casual situation occurred. The ruling Republican Party could not get the absolute victory despite having more votes than other parties participated. To support own candidate for Vanadzor Mayor position republicans should obtain other political powers' votes during close secret voting. But three oppositional streams of EAP, PAP and ARP consolidated and supported Christ Marukyan, candidate from Prosperous Armenia. But during the secret voting three candidates did not keep their words, and voted for authorities' candidates. Further same representatives came to another agreement - to boycott Elders Council sessions and not to allow republican mayor of Vanadzor to take decisions. As a result, it is already three months that the work of Vanadzor Municipality and Elders Council is blocked. Opposition states that the appropriate law gives an option to disband the Council and to arrange new elections, and the authorities are stating the opposite.
