ArmInfo.As compared to early 2016, the water level in Lake Sevan has risen by 30cm, Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan said at a press conference on December 27, when summing up the results of the year.
The minister said that today the water level in Lake Sevan is 1,900m and 48cm, which is 27cm more than during the same period of the previous year.
The irrigative water withdrawal season started on 7 June and finished on September 12. The volume of the water used made up 167,135 mln cu m out of the 170 mln cu m stipulated by the legislation. This is by 0,608 mln cu m less than in 2015, Minasyan said, adding that since late December 2002 the water level in the lake has risen by 3.69m, which is 94cm higher than planned. According to the minister, over 300 thsd people visited the free public beaches of Lake Sevan in 2016. Meanwhile, due to the rent of territories, the Sevan National Park raised nearly 168 mln AMD (166 mln AMD in 2015), which was spent on implementation of the statutory goals of the national park.
