ArmInfo.Targeted approaches are important in the settlement of Karabakh conflict, MP from Republican Party of Armenia, Head of Standing parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakaryan stated at the joint press conference with Leonid Kalashnikov, the Chairman of Russian State Duma Committee on CIS and Eurasian Integration.
According to him Azerbaijan's blackmail policy is inadmissible, it daily violates the ceasefire regime, conducting sabotage attacks and shooting Armenian positions. "This hampers the process and makes advance impossible", he noted.
Zakaryan touched upon the Russian-Azerbaijani contracts on weapons noting that this issue remains sensitive for the Armenian society. "Discussions have been held on this issue. Of course we realize that this is a sovereign right of any state. And Russia's capacities are not restricted by ally relations with Armenia", the MP noted.
The Armenian parliamentarian also noted that on the joint session of the Armenian Parliament and Russian State Duma's Committees the sides mentioned the importance of the statement adopted by the Heads of CSTO members countries on October 14, 2016 on Nagorno Karabakh conflict and reaffirmed the necessity of exclusively peaceful settlement of the problem based on the norms and principles of the international law, UN Charter, provisions of Helsinki Final Act, particularly those related to non-use of force or threat by force, people's right to self-determination and territorial integrity of the states. They emphasized the need to increase the role of parliamentary diplomacy for further assistance to the international efforts aimed at ensuring regional and international security and maintaining stability in the region.
