ArmInfo. Imposing secrecy on military-technical cooperation of Russia with other countries will be followed with increase of military supplies to Azerbaijan. Such a threat could be observed already now, Arman Melikyan, an independent expert and the former Karabakh Foreign Minister, expressed his opinion.
On November 23 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order stating that all the data on Russia's military - technical cooperation with other countries has a status of confidentiality. The MTC comprises also the armaments export. And from January by August Rosoboronexport has sold weapons and military equipments at about USD 8 bln. In 2015 the profit of the company mentioned formed USD 14,5 bln.
"Particularly, Armenia should attentively monitor the MTC between Russia and Azerbaijan, considering the fact that it comprises not only military supplies but also development of joint production in Azerbaijan. That is very important," he said.
Referring to the prospective of increase of Russian military supplies to Azerbaijan, the expert accentuated that in the case such a prospective becomes reality, obtaining of appropriate information would not be a big deal even in the case of the strictest confidentiality.
According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), only in 2014 the volumes of armaments imported by Azerbaijan versus that in 2005-2009 increased for 24%. In 2015 Baku had allocated for military bills 18%, or USD 5 bln of all budget allocations. At that, up to 85% of all the armaments is imported by Azerbaijan from Russia.
