ArmInfo. The Board of Trustees of Sasna Tsrer Foundation has responded to the namesake group's call to rename itself.
The Foundation says in a statement that renaming the Foundation is one of the priorities of the Board. "However, it is still impossible to change the list of the beneficiaries, because the benefactors' funds should be distributed among the relatives, families of the persons who undergo political pressure or are in custody for their political views," the authors say.
To note, earlier Head of Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group headquarters Pavel Manukyan and Spokesman Varuzhan Avetisyan sent an open letter to the founder of Sasna Tsrer Foundation Felix Hayrapetyan, urging him to dissolve the Foundation. They noted particularly that the Foundation has made its contribution to "liberation of the Motherland" and deserves gratitude, however due to the activities of some members of the Board of Trustees, who used the name of the Foundation in their own political goals, the further work of the Foundation is not reasonable. "If you intend to continue the humanitarian aid, please do it through a foundation with another name", the authors noted. At the same time, they urged the supporters of the group not to allocate money to the Foundation and their relatives not to become beneficiaries of the Foundation.
To note, Founding Parliament movement member Zhirayr Sefilyan's wife Nanor Sefilyan stated that she was leaving the Board of Trustees of Sasna Tsrer Foundation. "I cannot work in a Foundation, which is called Sasna Tsrer but its work contradicts its political views", she noted. At the same time, she pointed out that no transparency is ensured in the Foundation's activities.
To recall, Sasna Tsrer Foundation was established on August 31 in Armenia for supporting the arrested members of the Sasna Tsrer group and their families. The father of Kyureghyan brothers Armenak Kyuregyan was appointed Chairman of the Foundation. On the first day of the Foundation's existence, as much as 700 USD and 30 thousand AMD were transferred to its account.
