ArmInfo. With Karen Karapetyan's assignment as a Prime Minister and his joining the Republican Party it is exactly the old guard people that turned the most vulnerable point of republicans, Sergey Minasyan, the Deputy Director of Caucasus institute, expresses his opinion.
During the 16th Conference of RPA Prime Minsiter Karen Karapetyan and 5 ministers of his cabinet joined the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.
Joining of new members to RPA has a direct connection with the statement of President Serzh Sargsyan made recently regarding changes in the Party he leads. In this meaning the appearance of Karapetyan's team is described by intention to involve people having appropriate professional skills. To my opinion, this changes are accepted by some part of RPA without enthusiasm. Because this part of republicans faces not so good times after Hovik Abrahamyan's resignation.
"I don't think that karapetyan's assignment will lead to immediate effect in the implementation of the Government program, taking into consideration the obviously promotional character of almost all the statements at the pre-election stage. All this promises do have a chance only after the elections in April 2017," Minasyan summarized
