ArmInfo. The election of republican Donald Trump is the evidence of the crisis in the electoral system of the country, states Alexander Iskandaryan, the Director of the Caucasus Institute.
According to Iskandaryan, Trump's victory is quite a technical moment. The expert is confident that this fact demonstrates the global crisis in electoral system, and not only in USA, but all over the world, including Armenia, when old parties, previously having the support of the electoral majority, loose their dignity.
"This was a protest voting, i.e. people voted not "for" Trump, but "against" the acting political elite. Or they voted "for "Clinton to make Trump fail. In Washington 93% of electorate voted for Clinton, which is the evidence of the US political elite standing far from the people. This is an evidence of the crisis in the lectoral system of United States," Iskandaryan stated at the press-briefing in Yerevan on November 11.
To note, on November 9 United States have elected their 45th President. According to preliminary data, the elections was won by the republican candidate Donald Trump. He took 76 votes of 57 040 030 people. Clinton had 218 votes of 56 029 966 people. The victory threshold is 270 votes
