ArmInfo. The parliamentary groups take a positive view of ex- leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan's possible return to mainstream politics.
PAP faction member Vahe Enfiajyan says that Tsarukyan can consolidate the opposition field. Enfiajyan stresses that he will only welcome Tsarukyan's return. "The PAP is one of the influential political forces. Tsarukyan is at the origins of the party. So, his possible return is a positive fact for us," he stresses.
Head of the Heritage Party Faction Zaruhi Postanjyan says: "His return may be a necessity for his supporters, but it will change nothing for me". At the same time, she thinks that Tsarukyan's return will be a pre-electoral step. "He was driven away from politics and now the ruling authoritarian regime lets him come back. So, one cannot speak of any opposition sentiments, she stresses.
Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction Levon Zurabyan says that if the PAP ex-head is returning to mainstream politics because the prominent politicians do not cope with the existing problems, the ANC is ready to assume that burden.
Orinats Yerkir Faction member Mher Shahgeldyan thinks that it is the personal business of Tsarukyan and the comments on this will be relevant only after he comes back.
The heads of the factions of the Republican Party of Armenia and ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Vahram Baghdasaryan and Armen Rustamyan, see nothing bad in Tsarukyan's possible return to politics. "We are willing to cooperate with him after he returns," they say.
To note, ex-leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, lawmaker and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan told reporters on October 26 that he will "open the closed page again" if need be. Tsarukyan stressed that he needs neither fame nor a political post. If he decides to return to politics, he will do it as a matter of necessity. "If the prominent politicians fail to cope with the tasks, I will open the closed page," he stressed.
By ArmInfo's data, this November at the PAP congress, the leadership of the party will be changed and Gagik Tsarukyan will return to his post of PAP leader. An arrangement on Tsarukyan's return to the political field has already been achieved with President Serzh Sargsyan. According to ArmInfo's sources, Tsarukyan is returning to form a post-election coalition with the ruling Republican Party in 2017. The third party to join the coalition will be ARF Dashnaktsutyun, as the country's leadership plans.
