ArmInfo. Solidarity Party has not discussed the Armenian National Congress Party's proposal on consolidation in the run-up to the parliamentary elections of 2017, however, it does not mind cooperating, according to Stepan Margaryan, member of the Board of Solidarity Party.
Margaryan says he cannot say whether the ANC will be able to consolidate the Armenian opposition, but such consolidation will meet the Armenian society's interests.
The member of Solidarity Party is optimistic about the party's chances to get seats in the Parliament of 2017. "The local elections have demonstrated that we have serious chances. The society has opposition sentiments. The chances for success will be big in case of consolidation of the opposition forces," he stressed.
On October 24, the ANC disseminated a statement saying that it is willing to cooperate with the political forces during the parliamentary elections of 2017. The party considers that only consolidation of the opposition field can topple the regime.
The Prosperous Armenia Party has told ArmInfo that it is willing to cooperate with any forces to ensure the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections, but it will run independently in the elections of 2017.
Eduard Sharmazanov, Spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, advises the ANC to overcome the discrepancies inside the party and only after that to come out with calls for consolidation of the opposition field on the threshold of elections 2017 to shift the power. "One usually joins influential political forces, and the local elections have demonstrated that the ANC is not such a force," he stressed.
