Prosperous Armenia Party will not join any blocs or unions ahead of the parliamentary elections, Mikael Melkunyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) faction in the parliament, told ArmInfo commenting the Armenian National Congress' calls for cooperation of the opposition ahead of the parliamentary elections of 2017.
"We are ready to cooperate with all political forces that share PAP's stance on fair elections, democratic development, human rights protection and others, but we will run for parliament independently," he said.
"This is the main goal of the elections, considering that after constitutional report, the parliamentary elections become of special importance," he said.
According to ArmInfo's data, this November at the PAP congress, the leadership of the party will be changed and Gagik Tsarukyan will return to his post of PAP leader. An arrangement on Tsarukyan's return to the political field has already been achieved with President Serzh Sargsyan. According to ArmInfo's sources, Tsarukyan is returning to form a post-election coalition with the ruling Republican Party in 2017. The third party to join the coalition will be ARF Dashnaktsutyun, as the country's leadership plans.
Earlier, the Armenian National Congress disseminated a statement wherein it announced its readiness to cooperate with opposition forces to run for parliament, as only united opposition can change the power in the country.
