ArmInfo. The City Council of Malaga, Spain, has recognized and condemned the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
The press office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry has told ArmInfo that the statement adopted by the City Council qualifies the events in the early XX century as a crime against humanity that resulted in creation of a large Armenian Diaspora.
The City Council of Malaga also expresses its support to Armenians worldwide, and notes that the Municipality will shortly erect an Armenian khachkar (cross-stone) in the city park to commemorate the Armenian Genocide victims.
To note, over 20 countries and most of the US states have recognized the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian Genocide has also been recognized by the Council of Europe, European Parliament, and other international organizations.
