ArmInfo. Over the past few years US Secretary of State John Kerry has been concerned over the Karabakh peace process, Ambassador James Warlick, US Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, said in Yerevan on October 25, when commenting on Kerry's statement about impossibility to settle the Karabakh conflict today.
He recalled that it was John Kerry that initiated a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in 2014. He also initiated last year's meeting in Vienna.
Ambassador Warlick said that together with the mediators from Russia and France, the United States is willing to move forward and contribute to the Karabakh conflict settlement. The proposals are on the table and it is necessary to continue the negotiations to achieve progress and comprehensive settlement. He noted that the Co-chairs expect the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to show political will in promotion of the peace process.
The US Co-chair reiterated that the settlement should be comprehensive and the elements cannot be considered separately. If one speaks of the return of territories, one cannot ignore the issue of Nagorno- Karabakh's status or the problem of refugees, he said. The sides cannot consider only favorable elements, ignoring unfavorable ones. If there is no agreement on all items, the settlement is impossible at the moment, he stressed.
