ArmInfo. Yesterday the Government submitted an ambitious program for the consideration of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Hovhannes Sahakyan, lawmaker from the RPA, Head of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on State and Legal Affairs, said in Parliament on October 18.
He noted that reforms will be conducted in all areas, ranging from the public procurement to the customs administration. "The program is meant for the next 6 months and is based on the priorities outlined by President Serzh Sargsyan," the MP said, noting that the program is comprehensive and the Government should exert a lot of efforts to implement it.
When commenting on the information about cutbacks in the Government, Sahakyan said: "There are numerous state non-commercial organizations and offices for implementation of programs, which have carried out no functions for many years. So, their activities may be optimized". The MP added that the Government's program also stresses the need to facilitate the process of public procurement. He is convinced that a good job and system changes will guarantee success.
To note, on October 6, when opening the sitting of the Government, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that the time has come for cardinal changes and innovative methods of fight against various negative phenomena. "I believe the new Government of Armenia is able to do what the previous governments failed to," Sargsyan said, promising to support and encourage the Government. The Prime Minister noted that he was going to present a program consisting of two stages - short-term and long-term.
