ArmInfo. The Appeal Court of Yerevan has again denied an appeal by the lawyers of "Daredevils of Sasoun" group member Pavel Manukyan.
Manukyan's lawyer Inessa Petrosyan has told journalists, that the Appeal Court of Armenia has once again made a political decision.
"The Court's decision was quite expected. My client Pavel Manukyan has also stated in the court that he did not expect anther decision. But he also presented his remarks to the court related to why the police compound was seized. He stated that the seizure of building was not a goal in itself; a number of political issues were raised. However, the judge was not interested in the reasons brought by my client and was trying to interrupt Pavel all the time", Manukyan's lawyer noted.
According to Petrosyan, her client has also showed to the judge his legs with the signs of gun wounds.
"He is deeply insulted of how he has been treated by law enforcers. He was wounded two days after he had reached agreement with high-ranking officials. Negotiations were held on high level and agreements were reached. He has stated repeatedly that he prefers to die rather than to open fire from the seized building and to harm anybody. Manukyan is insulted that they fired at his son also, who just wanted to help him", Petrosyan noted.
To note, Aram and Pavel Manukyan were injured during firefight overnight with the police on the territory of the seized building on July 27. Both of them were transferred to the Erebuni medical center. Charges have been pressed against them based on the article 219 point 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Occupation of buildings, facilities, means of transportation and communication, other communication lines, or keeping them, accompanied with a threat of their destruction or damage, which was committed to force the state, an organization or a citizen to perform or not to perform certain action on condition of vacating the occupied property). On August 23 the Appeal Court refused to change measure of restriction for Aram Manukyan and left him under arrest for two months. On August 18 the Appeal Court of Yerevan did not change measure of restriction of Pavel Manukayn as well.
