ArmInfo. A protest action was held in front the PACE Office in Yerevan on October 17. The demonstrators demanded PACE President Pedro Agramunt's resignation.
The demonstrators approached the PACE Office building with posters saying "Stop Pedro!", "Pedro, Go Away!" They handed over a petition on Agramunt's resignation, as well as patterns of US dollar banknotes with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's portrait to the PACE Office.
The protest action was organized in response to PACE President Pedro Agramunt's actions against the members of the Armenian Delegation to PACE. To recall, at the PACE session on October 14 Agramunt interrupted the speeches of Armenian lawmakers Naira Karapetyan and Naira Zohrabyan, thereby violating the Armenian Delegation members' right to freedom of speech. Naira Zohrabyan's microphone was switched off after she said that the Prosecutor Office of Milan initiated proceedings against Luca Volonte for taking big bribes from Azerbaijan's representatives.
At the opening of the autumn session of PACE on October 10, Naira Zohrabyan, Member of Armenian Delegation to PACE, Head of the Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan accused PACE President of attempting to debar her from voting.
"Dear colleagues, PACE President Pedro Agramunt hinders my speeches at all the sessions of the Assembly, instructing to put my name in the end of the list of the speakers. Besides, Agramunt has informed Head of Armenian delegation Hermine Naghdalyan and Armenia's Permanent Representative in CoE Paruyr Hovhannisyan that my speeches are annoying him. Moreover, Agramunt considers that he can edit my speeches and only after that put them on the official website of the organization, he has informed the Armenian delegation of this, saying that my language is unacceptable to him. This means, that when I call an Azerbaijani, who had beheaded an Armenian soldier, a biped animal, this hurts Agramunt's feelings and he edits this part of my speech. I inform you Mr. Agramunt that you are going over the line of your authorities and I will fight against your lawlessness and arbitrary actions", Zohrabyan said.
