ArmInfo. A scandal broke out between the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations at PACE's meeting on October 14.
In his speech, Azerbaijani delegate Rafael Huseynov accused Armenia and its authorities of persecution against media representatives and even murder of independent journalists. In response, Armenian delegation member Naira Zohrabyan shouted out "Huseynov's place is at a mental hospital". PACE President Pedro Agramunt said that Zohrabyan's remark was tactless, and warned her that if she continued to behave so, the Armenian delegation would be deprived of voting rights.
This made Zohrabyan even more furious and she said that Agramunt is a corrupt lobbyist of Azerbaijan, like the Italian lawmaker Luca Volonte, who is charged with taking a 2.5 mln USD bribe from the Azerbaijani authorities to fail the anti-Azerbaijani project at PACE. Pedro Agramunt switched off Zohrabyan's microphone, but Zohrabyan continued her speech without a microphone.
She stressed that there were over twenty lawmakers in the hall, who directly served the interests of Baku and their behavior is far from being altruist. It is no secret that the incumbent president of PACE, Pedro Agramunt, also actively protects Baku's interests, Zohrabyan said, noting that she did not know whether he does it out of platonic love or other reasons.
She also expressed hope that the law-enforcers of other countries will follow Italy's example and will launch investigation of the facts of their delegates' bribery within international organizations.
