ArmInfo. A second plane carrying humanitarian aid to the war-torn Syria took off from Armenia today, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Deputy Head of the Armenian President's Administration Vardan Makaryan and Ambassador of Russian to Armenia Ivan Volynkin were at the airport to see off the plane.
The first plane with humanitarian supplies landed at the Russian Airbase in Hmeimim, Syria earlier on Tuesday. The Foreign Ministry of Armenia thanked the Russian colleagues at the Defense Ministry of Russia for transportation of the humanitarian aid.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry Department for Information and Mass Communications, the first military transport aircraft Il-76 of the Russian Defense Ministry delivered to the Hmeimim Airbase nearly 40 tons of canned foods, vegetables, bakery, flour, sugar. Foodstuffs and clothing will be delivered to the populated areas in Syria by the Russian military.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry reported that at the request of the president, two planes carrying humanitarian aid would be sent to Syria.
