ArmInfo. Acting Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's 71st Session, on September 22.
According to the Foreign Ministry press-office, Nalbandian presented the arrangements made by the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in Vienna and Saint Petersburg saying Baku refuses to implement them. Federica Mogherini, in turn, expressed EU's support to the OSCE Minsk Group's efforts towards peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The sides also discussed the consensus agreement between the authorities of Armenia and the opposition forces to introduce additional mechanisms to upgrade the public trust in election processes. In this light, Mogherini said the agreement was an important achievement ahead of the parliamentary elections. Nalbandian thanked the EU for the support.
The sides discussed the cooperation of Armenia and EU. In particular, the diplomat expressed satisfaction with the effective talks for the new legal document. The sides expressed hope for sooner completion of the talks and continuation of the political dialogue and made a point of the continuous of the political dialogue, partnership on trade issues.
Mogherini congratulated Nalbandian on the 25th Independence Anniversary of Armenia.
