ArmInfo. Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on victory of Yedinaya Rossia (United Russia) Party in State Duma elections.
"Russian citizens expressed their wide support to political line of Yedinaya Rossia (United Russia) party, which is aimed at social-economic development of the country and raise of its international image. I confirm our readiness to continue inter-party dialog based on mutual trust and aimed to consistently strengthen Armenian-Russian interstate cooperation", Sargsyan stated in his
message.
To note, elections to State Duma were held yesterday in Russia. Preliminary results show the governing Yedinaya Rossia (United Russia) received 54.16% of total votes. By preliminary data, six parties have been elected to the State Duma: four parliamentary parties, Motherland and Civil Platforms parties. According to data of the Elections System, the Communist Party received 13.54%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia with 13.26%, and A Just Russia - 6.18%.
Unlike the last two parliamentary elections, only half of the seats will be selected by national party list, with the other 225 by representatives of single-mandate constituencies. The Central Election Commission said early on September 19 that turnout was about 47.5 percent of eligible voters.
