Tbilisi. Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze stated on Monday, February 20, that that the mission of the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass would last till summer and it was unknown when he would be replaced by another ambassador.

At the end of last week U.S. President Barack Obama named future U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland.

"I can not say when the new ambassador will replace John Bass, but the acting Ambassador's mission will last till summer 2012. It is an ordinary order of ambassadors rotation", Kalandadze stated at the briefing.

John R. Bass officially assumed his duties in autumn 2009.
